Bullmastiff Club of Queensland

Ninth Championship Show

3rd of May 2014

Thank you to the Officers and Committee of The Bullmastiff Club of Queensland for inviting me to judge the Ninth Championship Show.

It is always a privilege to judge Bullmastiffs, thank you to all exhibitors for your entries.

The Club is very vibrant, and obviously well supported by its members. Congratulations to all the hardworking Officers and Committee on producing a successful show; the trophy table was laden with lovely prizes.

Thank you all for your warm welcome. Good luck to you all and your Bullmastiffs.

My overall impression of the dogs; I found some males with incorrect tail carriage, and others with eye placement too close together. This doesn’t give the dogs the required gentle expression. Bitches had better overall quality. I do like bitches to be feminine; some girls were just too overdone for me. Breeders are obviously making efforts with health testing; it appears to be having a positive effect on soundness. The dogs must not only meet the requirements of the breed standard, but also be fit for a healthy life.
